Nopalera is a brand with a Mexican heritage. Per their website a nopalera is a cactus patch and Nopal in English is a prickly pear cactus. This was my first purchase from Nopalera. They claim to be vegan , palm oil and cruelty free.
I got a candle, body wash, fragrance discovery set and mini body cream. The packaging was no frills and the delivery was speedy.
The Ibarra chocolate candle was a hit. It had a really good throw and an even burn. It smells more like an earthy hot chocolate drink than chocolate chip cookies or cake which makes sense as Ibarra is a brand of Mexican chocolate. The card with the package suggested reusing the ceramic candle holder for hot chocolate. I might try that.
My favorite of the three fragrances was Dulce de Cuerpo. They all seem like skin scents more like a splash or mist than a perfume. I’m on the fence as to whether I’ll try a full bottle.
The shower gel and Dulce De Cuerpo lotion are nice and lightly scented. The shower gel has a slight green tint. It lathers well and didn’t dry out my skin. The full size (8 oz) containers for the shower gel and body lotion are aluminum. I couldn’t find anything on the website where you could order refills which seems like an opportunity to be more sustainable with an aluminum container. The lotion is moisturizing without being greasy. The ingredients for the lotion listed on their website are:
- Prickly Pear Oil: Anti-inflammatory and rich in Vitamins E and K, dramatically restores skin barrier function
- Sweet Almond Oil: Soothes, hydrates, and ignites luminosity
- Saccharide Isomerate
The shower gel ingredients are noted as:

- Cactus Flower Extract: Anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial, purifies skin for a clear, firm complexion
- Blue Agave Extract” Soothes, softens, and deeply moisturizes
I’d rate my first experience with Nopalera as positive. I love the Ibarra candle and the Dulce De Cuerpo shower gel. I’ll definitely be repurchasing those two and checking out some of their other items.

Looks like a pretty brand and the candle sounds amazing! Oh and yes, I love reusing candle holders as drinking glasses/makeup/paint brush holders etc. Oh and I don’t know why – but I think if this brand had a gold accent colour on their products it would just elevate it (the look) – and maybe make a pendant with the logo design (okay too much thinking out loud). Anyway thanks for sharing :)

I did get another of the same candle so I’ll have a pair of hot chocolate glasses when I’m finished. I bet all of your lovely brushes are stored nicely. I think the brand was going for a traditional Mexican clay vibe for the candle holders.
