Now that the Olympics are over and I know more about horse jumping than I ever wanted to know, it’s time to get back to business. The business of finding nice things to wear.
You know that scene in Modern Family where the one guy doesn’t want to go to Costco and then when he gets there the other guy can’t get him to leave. That is pretty much what happens every time somebody asks me to go with them to Marshalls.
Do I have a problem with Marshalls? Absolutely not. Do I prefer to spend double the price for the same thing somewhere else? No. So what is it? Well it’s just that when it comes to shopping I am not a hunter, a gatherer, a pick upper off of the floor-er or a wait forever to find somebody to tell there’s a seven and a seven and a half in the same box which yes, is a problem for me type of person. These are all experiences I’ve had at various Marshalls so although I know you can find great deals there and I’m sure they’ve come a long way over the years, I am usually a little hesitant to go there.
Person(doesn’t matter who): Hey let’s go to Marshalls
Me: Makes face as if I’ve just been told that I have to pick one of the five
senses to do without for the rest of my life.
Person: Don’t look at me like that. We’ll go to a good one.
Me: I’ll wait in the car
Person: Whatever…….
Me: It’s now five hours later, I didn’t wait in the car. I am in fact in
the Marshalls in the back by the sheets(my second favorite section)
when they announce that the register will be closing in fifteen
minutes which sends me into a mild panic because I have no
idea where the person I came with is, my phone is dead, and my arms
are filled with shoes, bags, body washes(favorite section), an
assortment of teas and specialty nuts and I have things to try on and I
don’t have a basket because I refused to get one because you know…. I
didn’t want to come.
Person: Who has already checked out and sees me all wide eyed and manic
with my arms filled to the brim, because it’s now ten minutes before
closing and the line is to the back of the store.
I’ll be waiting in the car
Yep, that’s pretty much how it plays out every time. It was during one such scene that I picked up those shoes above. I live for a wedge heel and I love grey so those two at 50% off the retail price were definitely coming home with me.
I picked up all three of the necklaces above during The Loft’s friend and family sale. I wore the last one to work and got quite a few compliments on it. When this place has a sale it’s awesome.
So how are you guys getting over the Olympics ? 🙂
