Et Voilà

This is the time of year when I get the urge to do something different with my hair.  I’ve been toying with the idea of cutting it for some time now but my hairdresser has told me no. Yes, that’s how it works with us.  I tell her what I would like and then she does what she wants.  To be fair though I always end up liking what she does. She went out of town recently for an extended holiday and left me to my own devices.  Naturally I turned to the Internet for guidance, and this is what I came up with.

On freshly washed hair I took each individual lock of hair and bent it so that the bend was just at my chin or in some cases my collar bone and then wrapped the hair around itself. If I was a better blogger I would have had before and after photos with numbered steps.  In my defense I had no idea I was going to be able to pull it off. I was seriously just winging it, and wouldn’t you know it worked.

The reaction from the peanut gallery was very favorable. There were a lot of questions about how I got it to stay (gravity? – insert shrug here) and several comments about how I looked so much younger(insert side eye here).  I took these pictures in the last days of the style for posterity.

Do you change your hair with the seasons?

I really like it and I agree with you hair stylist 'don't cut it' 🙁 ..Unless you really-really want to (of course). Umm .. I don't really change my hair due to the season but what works. As of now I'm content with twisting it and the occasional coily fro. Though I have been toying with idea of dying it or a part of it, extensions and trying out Indigo and Henna powders. Lol at the side eye – yeah when ever I get my hair "did" comments like that usually surface along with whether I have a bf or that I'm going to get one now .. which in my opinion gets double side eye haha :)!

Hi Mango and Fudge. Thank you! My sister has loose natural hair and she got a great result with henna. I'm probably not going to cut it because I think I would miss my pony tail. My hairdresser is back so I saw her yesterday. We, and by we I mean she decided to dye my hair again :)I will keep you posted. Let me know if you dye yours.

Thank you very much Beauty! My hairdresser is going away again soon so I might have to see if I can catch lightening in a bottle twice and duplicate this. Eeek 🙂
