Ready or Not Here I Come

I met this guy on the elevator last week and we started talking about the holidays. He asked me if I was ready for them and I gave him my standard response- As ready as I’m going to be. We started talking about how the holidays can sometimes seem like a runaway train that you see coming but can’t look away from until you’ve been mowed over. He told me that this year his mantra was less is more and he was doing his best to focus on what he felt was important about the season: Christ, family and friends. I told him I would take his mantra with me.

Now let me be absolutely clear, I will never not buy nail polish, lipstick or pretty things.  Although I’m adopting his mantra I am not taking a vow of asceticism. I’m shooting for less worrying about getting everything done and less frenzy, which I hope will lead to more meaningful moments with my loved ones.

What about you guys? Are you ready for the holidays?

I'm never "ready" for the holidays and i couldnt care less about it. As much as i love gifts as much as the next girl, the rampant consumerism at christmas is depressing to me. I try to focus on the time with friends and family instead. And Baby Jesus. On another note, My sister just cut off her locks that she was growing for 10 years…. what a shock to the system.

I think that's the best way Neo. Do you know why your sister cut her hair?

I am not a big holiday fan and I get slightly bothered by how commercial everything is. That being said, it is always a great time when family come together and its the memory of togetherness that matters to me.

That's some stylish outfit you have on there; I'm loving the ripped jeans with the Pilloto sweatshirt. The holidays are always fun for me commercialized or not…:-). I wish we could have Christmas twice a year..no thrice a year…Lol

Me too. It is my favorite holiday. You wait all year and when it gets here it is over before you know it.
