I spent the weekend buying Mother’s Day gifts, going to Pilates and napping. I swear Sunday afternoon naps are the best thing ever.

There was another devastating world tragedy this weekend, and today I got some news that a friend that suddenly fell ill has taken a turn for the worse.  Every day I am reminded that I need to just do the things that I love and be kind to myself and everyone around me, regardless of the constant chatter to climb higher, go longer and spin faster. I have a very laid back personality so I have to be careful not to come across as aloof.  It’s not that I don’t care it’s just that along the way I realized this-

“My heart is at ease knowing that was meant for me will never miss me, and that what misses me was never meant for me” – Imam Al-Shafi (at least according to the inter webs).

While I grieve for the people of Nepal, the number of world tragedies is becoming numbing, my soul is overwhelmed. I pray for all those affected.I love that quote… it has comforted me through many disappointments and warmed my soul through many triumphs.

Numb is a good word. I think a lot of people feel that way. I love that quote too as it sums up how I approach life. Thanks for stopping by!

While I grieve with the people of Nepal, I'm reminded of the earthquake that hit my country Haiti back in 2010. It feels like just yesterday. May the Lord be with those who lost their lives, may they rest in peace.

Thank you for the compliment 🙂 I remember the earthquake in Haiti. I wonder how many people were really helped in the end.

This is very sad news. You're totally right – life is such a precious gift and many take it for granted wanting to have it all and be it all – in the end people need to figure out what really matters is not what you have but who you really are, aside from your career, presumed intelligence or talent, money etc. and treat others how they would like to be treated.I'm guilty of being aloof too which often gets regarding as rudeness – sometimes I admit it – I can be rude but most of the time I'm not – just naturally reserved. I love your nails and the flower too (so pretty!). I hope your friend gets better and I do wish that everyone who has or is suffering will find peace.
