I took a little trip to the MAC store in my neighborhood mall to buy some lipstick. I wanted to get a neutral everyday color, something fun and a bold red. The salesperson seemed slightly amused that a woman my age I was just starting to really experiment with MAC and lipsticks in general. She stifled her laughter enough to help me come up with Spice it Up and Plumful. Ruby Woo I asked for on my own as I’d seen it on the very chic lady from the blog, simply chic here. So here’s how it turned out:

Spice it Up was the pick for the everyday color. Like all of the colors in this post I’m wearing it with the MAC Chestnut lip pencil, which the salesperson picked out. Long story short, I like it. I also got a compliment from a coworker on this color.(They’re starting to notice I’m wearing lipstick more often. I think they think I’m interviewing for other jobs on the sly 🙂

I also liked this color. It’s very similar to the Jemma Kidd minx 01 I’m wearing here. It’s in the family of colors that I’m usually drawn to, burgundy, wine etc, but not as safe. I think it’s a little playful.

So the Ruby Woo. I wore this color recently to do my hair and was greeted by the hairdresser with, and I quote, “Where you going with that lipstick?” end quote. I’m not sure if she meant:
-
That color looks lovely on you, but unexpected for a casual trip to do your hair or
-
Ohh girl that is not your shade

I will continue my analysis and clear up my confusion as to whether this is a good choice for me by wearing it in the presence of the great illuminator- my mother :).
Happy Hump Day !
I have been wanting to try Ruby Woo it looks lovely on you. I hope your hairdresser means: That color looks lovely on you, but unexpected for a casual trip to do your hair 😀

Spice it up is one of my all time favorite colors from Mac. I’ve heard a lot of great things a Ruby Woo but haven’t tried it for myself. This past weekend I wore Mac’s Russian Red and received so many compliments you can’t go wrong with a red lipstick!
@ Katie Mac:I've never heard of Russian Red.I'm off to google it and look for swatches 🙂
