My first notice that Gucci was coming out with a line of beauty products was the Allure magazine article in the third picture. They collaborated with renowned make up artist Pat McGrath so I was definitely intrigued. I took advantage of the free two day shipping Gucci was offering and picked up what you see above.
I’ve mentioned before that I’m a sucker for nice packaging. It’s Gucci so you know they were going to bring it. I love how sleek and sexy the bottle caps and lipstick cases are without being too over the top.
Gucci High Gloss Lacquer- Wild Amarena #150
This is day three of the lacquer Wild Amarena. It’s a classic deep burgundy shade with a slight metallic sheen. It’s not particularly unique color wise but the formula was a dream. It applied easily and lasted for almost a week with no chipping. I’m wearing two coats in the picture above.
Luxurious Lipstick- Wild Amarena #520
Now this is not what I expected this to look like. I thought it would be similar to the nail polish of the same name. That would make sense right? Also, it may be something with the pigment in my lips but this seems to lean more towards a rust/burnt red on me than the lipstick in the tube would suggest. With all that said this color speaks to my soul. Formula wise I think it is perfect. It feels so creamy and rich that it truly lives up to the luxurious label. Lasting power is average and it does leave a nice stain. Did I mention I like it? The only downside I can think of is that it is slightly perfumed. The Gucci website describes it as their “signature gourmand Blue Chocolate fragrance.” Now yours truly has never smelled blue chocolate so I’m going to just go out on a limb and say if you are extra sensitive to scents this might not be for you.
Audacious Lipstick- Dark Romance #250
If the Wild Amarena spoke to my soul Dark Romance was more like a text from that person you are just not that into. It’s okay. It just won’t be the first thing I reach for. Formula wise this one is not as moisturizing as its luxurious cousin Wild Amarena but it applied relatively easy for a darker color.
I’m still working through the other two polishes but based on what I’ve tried so far I’d give the Gucci Beauty line a solid A.
